Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a comprehensive package of 15 bills to spur job creation and economic recovery across the country. Congressman Kevin Cramer supported the passage of the Jobs for America Act, which includes many bills he cosponsored.

“During the 113th Congress, the House has put its best foot forward in developing straight-forward solutions to fix what ails our weak national economy,” said Cramer. “What we need more than ever is for the Senate to join us so we can put these bills on the President’s desk for his signature.”

Included in the package is key legislation cosponsored by Rep. Cramer:

The Save American Workers Act: Prevents lost hours and wages due to the implementation of the 30-hour rule in Obamacare, and restores the traditional 40-hour definition. By changing the traditional definition of full-time employment from 40 hours a week to 30 hours a week, Obamacare forces many employers to cut workers’ hours below 30 in order to avoid the mandate and its penalties.

America’s Small Business Tax Relief Act: Restores and makes permanent a tax deduction for equipment and property investments made by small businesses including farming operations, by addressing a lapse in the tax code which dropped the expensing limitation for tax deductions from $500,000 to $25,000. The legislation would restore the $500,000 cap and make it permanent.

The Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act: Requires any rule or regulation with an economic impact of $50 million or greater to be approved by Congress.

The Permanent Internet Tax Freedom Act (PITFA): Addresses the November 1, 2014 expiration of a ban on internet access taxes by state and local governments by striking the end date and making it permanent to ensure access to the greatest gateway to knowledge in history is not impeded.

The National Strategic and Critical Minerals Production Act: Streamlines the federal permitting process for mineral development and puts the United States on a path toward greater domestic production of rare earth minerals needed for the manufacturing of military aircraft, medical devices, computers, cell phones, and wind turbines among thousands of other products.
