CRAMER: U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS AGREES TO EXTEND COMMENT PERIOD
Recording: Download Letter
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Kevin Cramer announced the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) agreed to extend the public comment period for the Snake Creek Interim Risk Reduction Measures Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) to August 20.
Cramer sent a letter to the Corps last week asking for the deadline to be extended. He wrote, “The present time allotted is not enough for those impacted by this proposed action which could potentially put 50 percent of North Dakota’s population at risk of water shortages.”
Some impacted residents and entities are newly learning about the EA, and need more time to convey their concerns. By extending the deadline an additional 30 days, stakeholders will now have additional time to respond on this proposal with significant consequences for the purposes of the Garrison Diversion Unit.
