Cramer Statement on FERC Propane Action

Feb 10, 2014
Press Release

BISMARCK, N.D. – Today Congressman Kevin Cramer released the following statement on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) order to prioritize propane shipments by pipeline due to ongoing shortages:

I am pleased the FERC is hearing our concerns loud and clear. The shortage is affecting many households and businesses in the coldest parts of the country. The federal government should continue taking swift action where possible to provide relief from the shortage and higher heating costs which go along with it.”

The FERC on Friday ordered Enterprise TE Products Pipeline Company to temporarily give priority treatment to propane shipments from Mont Belvieu, Texas, to the Midwest and Northeast in order to alleviate the shortage of propane in these regions. The order expires after seven days, after which it would require extension by the FERC.
