WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Kevin Cramer issued the following statement after the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) officially returned the internet to its previous Title I classification, thereby restoring the light-touch regulatory framework which has allowed the internet to flourish:
“The repeal of the heavy handed internet regulation of the Obama Administration comes at a very advantageous time as Congress and the Trump Administration are putting a strong emphasis on increasing private and public investment in broadband infrastructure, particularly in rural America. The internet thrived under the light touch of Title I enforcement by the FTC and investment actually slowed under the heavy hand of Title II regulation of the FCC. The implementation of this rule really ensures the internet now will remain free and open.”
