Washington, D.C. – Today Congressman Kevin Cramer reiterated to Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack the need for immediate USDA action to resolve delays and inconsistent grain inspections caused by labor strikes in the Pacific Northwest.

In a new letter to Secretary Vilsack with several colleagues led by House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Congressman Cramer urged the Federal Grain Inspection Service to prepare an executable plan for implementation in the event future disruptions occur, ensuring grain inspections at all Pacific Northwest export facilities are performed without interruption.

Last week Cramer wrote his own letter to Vilsack, stressing the imperative nature of the problem due to its impact on the global commodity market.
