CRAMER: MDU Natural Gas Pipeline Announcement a Win for Bobcat and City of Gwinner
GWINNER, ND – Congressman Kevin Cramer joined Montana-Dakota Utilities (MDU) and Bobcat today to announce the construction of a natural gas pipeline, which will provide gas service for Gwinner’s Bobcat production facility as well as the surrounding community.
“Natural gas is an excellent source of energy, but in smaller towns, there must be an anchor tenant in the community who plans to buy a lot of it in order to provide the incentive to invest in the infrastructure,” said Cramer. “In this case, Bobcat’s demand for natural gas creates a tremendous benefit for the city of Gwinner. It’s another example of how major businesses serve the greater good for everyone. From drying grain to home heating, having access to natural gas in Gwinner will open up a number of opportunities for consumers and businesses alike. I’m glad to see the hard work by these world class North Dakota companies paying off for Gwinner, and I look forward to seeing the final product.”
During his time on the North Dakota Public Service Commission, Cramer advocated for natural gas build out to rural communities. As a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, he defended natural gas and other energy sources from the onslaught of rules proposed during the Obama Administration. He is also a cosponsor of the Promoting Interagency Coordination for Review of Natural Gas Pipelines Act, which passed the House of Representatives earlier this year.
