Congressman Kevin Cramer to Submit Testimony for Coal Ash Legislation Hearing
Washington, DC- This week, a hearing regarding The Coal Ash Recycling and Oversight Act of 2013, will be held by the House Energy and Commerce Committee. The discussion draft will be considered at 10:30 a.m. in the Rayburn House Office Building on Thursday, April 11th.
Fly ash, a constituent of coal ash, is successfully marketed by North Dakota producers as an environmentally safe building material. Congressman Cramer will be submitting hearing testimony for consideration by the Energy and Commerce Committee. Coal Ash legislation was introduced in the last Congress by both the House, and the Senate, in an effort to ensure state regulatory primacy.

Congressman Cramer was appointed to the North Dakota Public Service Commission (Commission) in 2003, serving until his election to the House of Representatives in 2012. The Commission has retained primacy over the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act since its inception in 1977, receiving numerous commendations from the Office of Surface Mining.
