Press Release

Washington, DC- Today, Congressman Kevin Cramer voted in favor of a continuing resolution to prevent a government shutdown. The legislation includes a full-year Defense Appropriations bill, as well as, a full-year Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Bill. Except for the Department of Defense (DOD) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the continuing resolution will extend funding for other government agencies at the same levels as last year. The funding will be subject to sequester cuts.

“Sequestration and continuing resolutions are not the best way to budget,” Cramer said. “The lack of fiscal discipline in the institutions of government require us to use whatever tools we have in order to find needed efficiencies,” Cramer continued. “I certainly hope as we budget going forward, we are able to implement the reforms necessary to balance our federal budget in a responsible way, just like working families and businesses do.”

Congressman Kevin Cramer represents the state of North Dakota in an at-large House seat. Cramer is a member of both the House Committee on Natural Resources and the Committee on Science, Space and Technology.
