Full transcript of statement:

“ The Speech was I guess what  I expected, a few things I liked and a number of  things I have some concerns about.  I was pleased to hear the President call for comprehensive immigration reform, I think that’s an area where Republicans and Democrats can find some common ground perhaps create a little bit of momentum and demonstrate to the country that we are a functional organization. I was also pleased to hear him call for bipartisan comprehensive tax reform. I suspect we might differ on some of the details on that, but at the same time, I think it’s a noble goal to have comprehensive tax reform that provides some certainty, simplicity and an easier tax code that allows investment and job creation to take place.

I am concerned however, that this President still seems to think that government is the solution rather than the problem. We need to cut spending in this town. We have already raised taxes, we don’t have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem and he doesn’t seem to acknowledge that. But with that said he is the President we are the congress, I am ready to roll up my sleeves and go to work for the things that matter. Try to find some common ground where we can, fight for the things that we believe in where we can’t and hopefully find some compromise that moves ball forward in the right direction.”
