Congressman Kevin Cramer issued the following statement today urging pro-energy senators to support the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to overturn the Obama Adminstration‘s Bureau of Land Manangement (BLM) methane rule. “This God-awful rule is aimed right at North Dakota in an effort to destroy the Bakken. The rule does nothing to help the environment, plus states and the EPA already have authority over flaring and venting. If the Senate passes this CRA, the rule can never come up again. But if the White House has to deal with it, this rule is destined to come back the next time we have a liberal president. That’s why I contacted Senator McConnell today and urged him to bring it up for a vote as soon as possible. I’m confident, even undecided, energy senators will find their way to the right side of the issue”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Kevin Cramer issued the following statement today after the U.S. Senate voted to confirm Gov. Rick Perry as Secretary for the U.S. Department of Energy: “First of all, my congratulations to Governor Perry who I think is an excellent choice – it’s too bad it took this long to get him confirmed. He’ll do a great job because he has incredible experience managing a massive bureaucracy as the Governor of Texas. Obviously, he clearly understands energy and energy policy, and perhaps most importantly, how good research and development can actually bring environmental improvements while at the same time saving our energy industry. Again, congratulations to him. I’m grateful the Senate finally got around to confirming him, and I’m looking forward to working with him.”

Congressman Kevin Cramer issued the following statement today after the U.S. Senate voted to confirm Dr. Ben Carson as Secretary for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development: “I had the great pleasure of getting to know Dr. Carson through the campaign and throughout the fall. I can’t think of a person better prepared to head up the Housing and Urban Development than Dr. Carson. He’s always the smartest person in the room no matter who the audience includes. He grew up, as you know, in poverty and understands the challenges of inner city as well as rural – which are in many cases similar in terms of the opportunity to have access to capital and the things that are important to providing the types of infrastructure that our families need throughout our country. Congratulations to him. I’m grateful he finally got confirmed and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
