Cramer Statement on Possible Military Action in Syria
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Kevin Cramer released the following statement concerning possible military action in Syria after attending a classified briefing on the situation:
“I remain unconvinced the use of military force in Syria will be constructive. I acknowledge the United States has a national interest in the Syrian conflict, but I do not believe our interests are advanced by the proposed strikes. I am concerned about choosing sides in a civil war where neither force is a clear ally.”
The classified briefing was conducted by Ambassador Susan E. Rice, National Security Advisor, John Kerry, Secretary of State, Chuck Hagel, Secretary of Defense, James Clapper, Director of National Intelligence, and Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
