Cramer Presented with Fueling Growth Award from Ethanol Group
Washington, D.C. – Today Congressman Kevin Cramer was presented with the 2013 Fueling Growth award for his work in support of ethanol energy industry as part of the 4th annual Growth Energy Advocate Conference. Growth Energy is the leading trade association for ethanol.
“North Dakota is strengthening its ethanol portfolio at a fast rate thanks to our ever-increasing corn production, and a flourishing processing industry in places like Spiritwood, Hankinson, Richardton, Underwood, and Casselton. I am also closely monitoring the effect of ethanol volume requirements on gas prices and am encouraged by the EPA’s decision to extend the compliance deadline. Ethanol development done right will strengthen our route to energy security and keep fuel prices low for consumers.” said Cramer.
“Your dedication and hard work in Congress has made a significant contribution to the viability of the biofuels industry. Time and time again, you have helped make consistent and predictable federal policy that has made ethanol the largest and only commercially-viable alternative to foreign oil,” said Tom Buis, CEO of Growth Energy.
In response to concerns of a pending ‘blend wall’ due to a combination of increasing ethanol volume requirements and decreasing fuel use, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced in August it would provide more flexibility with the 2013 ethanol volume requirements by extending the deadline for compliance by four months, to June 30, 2014.
