WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Kevin Cramer offered remarks on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives today to congratulate the members and coaches of the University of North Dakota men’s hockey team on winning their eighth NCAA National Championship in Tampa, Florida, on Saturday.
Here is a transcript of Cramer’s remarks:
The University of North Dakota is the state's oldest and largest university with nearly 15,000 students, more than 225 fields of study with 3,000 courses, and 84 graduate education programs. UND has a reputation for research and scholarship in health sciences, energy and the environment, aerospace and entrepreneurship -- and hockey.
In fact, last Saturday, in Tampa, Florida, the University of North Dakota men's hockey team won its Eighth NCAA Championship by defeating Quinnipiac University by a score of 5 to 1.
UND hockey is legendary in the NCAA with 22 Frozen Four appearances to go along with the eight national championships.
Congratulations to Coach Brad Berry and his outstanding team of student athletes, Interim President Ed Schafer, incoming President Mark Kennedy, and the entire UND family on their latest accomplishment. Thank you for a great season and your tremendous example of excellence.
As you raise another NCAA Championship trophy, you also raise the bar for all who follow. That's a really good thing!
I yield back the balance of my time.
