CRAMER: Attorney General Sessions Will Look Out for North Dakota’s Interests
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Kevin Cramer issued the following statement about Senator Jeff Sessions taking the oath of office as Attorney General of the United States this morning:
“I want to congratulate Senator Sessions on becoming the next Attorney General of the United States this morning. He will enforce the rule of the law, which was regularly ignored by the Department of Justice over the last eight years. I have already spoken with him and White House staff about reimbursing the state of North Dakota for emergency response and law enforcement costs incurred as a direct result of the Obama Administration’s efforts to delay the construction of the legally permitted Dakota Access Pipeline project. Unlike former Attorneys General Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch, who received the support of every Democrat in the Senate, Attorney General Sessions is committed to cracking down on sanctuary cities and enforcing immigration laws.
He will also ensure that the lawless behavior seen in Ferguson, Missouri; Baltimore, Maryland; Morton County, North Dakota, and other regions of the country is no longer rewarded or encouraged by the Department of Justice. He has a proven record of standing up for law enforcement and their families, and has been endorsed by some of the nation’s most prominent pro-law enforcement organizations, including the Fraternal Order of Police, the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association, the National Association of Police Organizations and the National Sheriffs Association. I look forward to working with Attorney General Sessions in Congress to move our nation forward toward greater respect for law enforcement and the laws of our nation.”
