Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Bud Cramer (Ala.-05) today congratulated the United States Army for 233 years of service.
“Throughout the history of our nation, the United States Army has loyally and faithfully protected our borders and defended the principles on which this country was founded,” Cramer said. “In North Alabama, we have built a unique partnership with the Army and Redstone Arsenal. I commend the United States Army for 233 years of exemplary service to this nation, and I pledge my continued support for all the men and women of our armed forces.”
The Continental Army was formed by the Continental Congress on June 14, 1775, to meet the demands of the American Revolutionary War. After the country won its independence, the modern Army was created by the United States Congress on June 14, 1784, to replace the disbanded Continental Army.
A member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, Cramer has worked tirelessly in support of the U.S. Army and Redstone Arsenal.
