Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Bud Cramer (Ala.-05) announced that the House approved on Thursday the Fiscal Year 2008 Labor, Health and Human Services Appropriations bill.
Representative Cramer, a member of the House Appropriations Committee, secured $825,000 for North Alabama projects in this bill.
Among the projects approved by the Committee include:
- $275,000 for the Hudson-Alpha Institute for Biotechnology.
- $225,000 for construction of a Health and Science Building at the University of North Alabama.
- $175,000 for construction of a pedestrian bridge at Huntsville Hospital.
- $75,000 for renovations and expansion of the Limestone Community Care Medical Clinic.
- $75,000 for construction of a new HEALS Dental Clinic.
“This funding helps ensure that our community has the resources it needs to not only be on the forefront of scientific research, but also able to continue to provide basic healthcare services to those who need it the most,” said Cramer.
The FY 2008 Labor-HHS Appropriations bill now moves to the Senate for consideration.
