Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Bud Cramer (Ala.-05) announced today that the House Appropriations Committee approved the Fiscal Year 2008 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations bill.
Representative Cramer, a member of the Transportation-HUD Appropriations Subcommittee, announced that he secured $3.8 million for North Alabama projects in this bill.
Among the transportation projects approved by the Committee include:
- $1 million for the Multimodal Downtown Parking/Dallas Branch Greenway Development project.
- $750,000 for Winchester Road improvements in Madison County.
- $550,000 for improvements to the Scottsboro Municipal Airport.
- $500,000 for construction of the Church Street Overpass in Huntsville.
- $500,000 for improvements to Wall Triana Highway in Madison County.
“This funding will help North Alabama improve its transportation infrastructure and enable us to continue to aggressively pursue new industries,” said Cramer.
Among the community improvement projects approved by the Committee include:
- $200,000 for the National Children’s Advocacy Center’s Digital Research Library.
- $200,000 for renovations at the Huntsville Museum of Art.
- $100,000 for renovations to Ivy Green in Tuscumbia.
“This funding will enhance and restore some of North Alabama’s most recognizable facilities,” said Cramer.
This funding now moves to the full House for consideration.
