Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Bud Cramer (Ala.-05) announced today that the House approved funding for Northwest Alabama that he secured in the Fiscal Year 2008 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill.
Representative Cramer, a member of the House Appropriations Committee, announced that he included $214,000 for the City of Muscle Shoals for water and wastewater infrastructure improvements.
“Recent economic growth in Northwest Alabama has emphasized the need to expand the area’s wastewater system,” said Cramer. “This funding will help the City of Muscle Shoals move forward with their plans to expand and upgrade its wastewater facility.”
Representative Cramer also secured a total of $100,000 for continuing renovations at Ivy Green, the Birthplace of Helen Keller. Cramer had previously secured $121,500 for Ivy Green in FY 2005.
“I’m proud that this funding is a step closer to becoming a reality so our community can continue its preservation efforts at Ivy Green,” said Cramer.
The Fiscal Year 2008 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill now moves to the Senate for consideration.
