Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Bud Cramer (Ala.-05) announced that the House Appropriations Committee approved funding for Northwest Alabama in the Fiscal Year 2008 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill.
Representative Cramer, a member of the House Appropriations Committee, announced that he included $214,000 in Interior bill for the City of Muscle Shoals for water and wastewater infrastructure improvements.
“I am pleased to provide this funding to help ensure that the City of Muscle Shoals as well as entire Shoals area continues to have a reliable source of drinking water,” said Cramer.
Representative Cramer also secured a total of $100,000 for continuing renovations at Ivy Green, the Birthplace of Helen Keller. Cramer had previously secured $121,500 for Ivy Green in FY 2005.
Cramer said, “Ivy Green is one of our community’s historic treasures and this funding will help us ensure that we continue to preserve Ivy Green so that future generations can learn Helen Keller’s remarkable story.”
The Fiscal Year 2008 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill now moves to the full House for consideration.
