U.S. Representative Bud Cramer (Ala.-05) announced today that the House and Senate have come to a conference agreement for the Fiscal Year 2008 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations bill.
Representative Cramer, a member of the Transportation-HUD Appropriations Conference Committee, announced that he secured $4.15 million for North Alabama projects in this agreement.
“As our area continues to address its transportation needs, I’m pleased to provide this funding to help improve road safety and prepare for our future growth,” said Cramer.
Among the transportation projects secured by Representative Cramer in the conference agreement include:
- $1.25 million for the Multimodal Downtown Parking/Dallas Branch Greenway Development project.
- $1 million for construction of the Church Street Overpass in Huntsville.
- $750,000 for Winchester Road improvements in Madison County.
- $550,000 for improvements to the Scottsboro Municipal Airport.
- $500,000 for improvements to Wall Triana Highway in Madison County.
Cramer said, “The conference agreement also includes funding to support efforts to preserve our region’s cultural and historical treasures. This funding will help improve these facilities for the future and ensure that visitors can continue to visit these sites to learn about our area’s unique history.”
Among the community improvement projects secured by Representative Cramer in the conference agreement include:
- $300,000 for the National Children’s Advocacy Center’s Digital Research Library.
- $200,000 for renovations at the Huntsville Museum of Art.
- $100,000 for renovations to Ivy Green in Tuscumbia.
The House is expected to consider the FY 2008 Transportation-HUD Appropriations conference agreement this evening. The Senate will take up the agreement following the House’s approval.
