Moulton, Ala. - U.S. Representative Bud Cramer (D-Ala.) presented a $70,000 check to the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office to help fight the Methamphetamine epidemic in Lawrence County. Cramer secured this funding in the FY 2004 Consolidated Appropriations Act.
"I am always looking for ways on the Federal level to provide North Alabama with resources to fight this epidemic," said Cramer. "With the help of this federal funding, Lawrence County will be more prepared to combat the meth epidemic. The battle against meth is one that we all must be aware of and fight together. For my part, I will continue my work in Congress to help Lawrence County deal with this issue.
Congressman Cramer serves on the Commerce, Justice, State, and Judiciary Appropriations subcommittee. Through this subcommittee, Cramer helps make sure that law enforcement agencies throughout the North Alabama have the funding they need to fight crime and drugs. Cramer is also a member of the Congressional Caucus to Fight and Control Methamphetamine, a group of members of Congress working to raise national awareness of the problems and dangers associated with abuse and production of meth.
