Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Bud Cramer (D-Ala.) recently nominated doctors Neeta Kohli-Dang and Pamela Hudson for recognition as Local Legends, sponsored by the American Medical Women's Association. Dr. Kohli-Dang and Dr. Hudson will be honored this evening at an awards banquet in San Diego, California.
"These are two extraordinary women from our community," said Cramer. "I nominated Dr. Hudson and Dr. Kohli-Dang because they are outstanding physicians and administrators who have served our community proudly for many years. In addition, they have raised the bar for all physicians and administrators. Dr. Hudson and Dr. Kohli-Dang have received numerous awards and appointments throughout their careers because they both share a love of medicine and a strong commitment to helping others. They are an inspiration not only to women but to us all."
Dr. Neeta Kohli-Dang was born in Mombassa, Kenya and immigrated to Canada when she was fifteen years old. Dr. Kohli-Dang earned her Doctor of Medicine with honors at the University of Toronto in 1982 and received certifications from the American & Canadian Boards of Otolaryngology in 1987. Dr. Kohli-Dang moved to the United States in 1996, locating her practice in North Alabama. In 2002, Dr. Kohli-Dang established the Huntsville Ear, Nose, and Throat Associates. She practices at Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville, Alabama, where she serves on numerous committees. Dr. Kohli-Dang is a member of the Fellow Royal College of Surgeons of Canada, the Madison County Medical Society, and the Medical Association of the State of Alabama.
Dr. Pamela Hudson is one of a small number of female physicians in upper management positions within the Triad Hospitals Corporation. Dr. Hudson currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer and Ethics and Compliance Officer for Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Dr. Hudson is a Board Certified Family Practitioner that graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1983. In addition to her numerous medical responsibilities, Dr. Hudson serves on the local boards of the Community Free Clinic, National Children's Advocacy Center, North Alabama Rehabilitation Foundation, and Employer's Coalition of Healthcare Options.
The American Medical Women's Association, the National Library of Medicine, and Members of Congress are working together to celebrate the lives and achievements of America's female physicians. Female physicians who demonstrate commitment, originality, innovation, or creativity in their field of medicine are nominated by Members of Congress for this award.
