Washington D.C. - U.S. Representative Bud Cramer (Ala-05), encourages fire stations across North Alabama to apply for the 2003 Fire Prevention and Safety Grants Program. This grant program is administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and managed by the U.S. Fire Administration.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for fire departments in North Alabama," said Cramer. "It is essential that our fire-fighters are well prepared for the dangers they will face on the job. This funding will help our first-responders save lives and protect our property. I strongly encourage area fire departments to apply for this grant."
The application process for the 2003 Fire and Safety Grants Program opens today. Online applications will be accepted until November 13, 2003.
The 2003 program, a part of the 2003 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, seeks to address the nation's fire problem, particularly the death and injury rates to young children, seniors and the firefighters called to respond to fires.
