I am proud to be a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and Chairman of the Committee's Subcommittee on Intelligence Oversight and Investigations. This is a fascinating and demanding assignment, and I take it very seriously. I regularly meet with many members of our intelligence community, both here and overseas. These range from the highest profile people, like the DNI and CIA director to the people that are the tip of the sword - the people in the field.
I am also proud to serve on the new Select Intelligence Oversight Panel within the House Appropriations Committee. This panel meets a key part of the 9/11 Commission's recommendations for improving Congress' oversight and funding of our nation's intelligence agencies by reviewing the Administration's annual budget request for intelligence operations and making recommendations for appropriations.
In addition to the oversight we provide on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the Select Intelligence Oversight Panel, these assignments allow me to take an active role on issues important to the Missile and Space Intelligence Center (MSIC) and the rest of the intelligence assets we have in North Alabama.
