Representative Cramer hires college students and recent graduates to work as interns in his Washington, D.C., and Huntsville district offices. Internships are a great opportunity to gain valuable work experience and knowledge of the federal government and Congress.
Interns will perform a variety of tasks including greeting visitors, assisting with constituent mail, and giving constituent Capitol tours. In addition, interns may be expected to conduct research and assist the Congressional staff in the smooth operation of the office.
Interns are encouraged to take advantage of attending committee hearings and briefings, as well as participate in the Congressional Intern Speaker Series. Special projects and various tasks, according to individual interests and skills, may also be required.
Representative Cramer does not have deadlines for Internship applications, but encourages those interested to submit applications as soon as possible. Since many students are out of school during the summer, it is recommend that applications for our summer program be submitted during the previous spring semester.
For Washington, D.C., internship housing information, please check out the local university dormitories (e.g., Georgetown, George Washington, American, Catholic, etc.) and the following web sites: The Washington Post, Washington City Paper and Roll Call.
